Wendy is married!
The importance of flour
It is a very busy memorial day weekend for us this year. We have a party of one kind or another each day from now through Monday. (The highlight of which will be Nathan's 3rd birthday on Monday!) So today I am making a big batch of cookies to bring to these various events. Which reminded me of the time Andrea made cookies back in January when we were over at her house. It may interest all of you to see what chocolate chip cookies look like when you forget to include the flour.
Turns out flour is a pretty important ingredient! I did not forget it today.
Happy Memorial Day Weekend, everybody!

Andrew's Hat Trick
Mother's Day
Andrea hosted our Mother's Day gathering, and we had a ball in their backyard. Thank you to all the Dads for making it a fun day for us Moms!
I got tons of cute pics of the action in the hot tub but many came out overexposed because I forget to set Jeff's camera to "automatic" and it was set for a lower lighting setting. Sorry to have missed some great shots of Craig and Nathan in particular, who were in the sunniest corner of the all-white hot tub (the pictures are almost all white with only the faintest wisp of people visible!)

Cousins play date
Special visit from Nana
Good joke
For a philosophy final exam at a nearby college, the professor put a chair on the desk at the front of the room and announced: "For this exam, using all you've learned this term, prove that this chair does not exist." The students began writing furiously. Except for one who wrote for just a few moments and then turned in his paper to the surprise of the other students. A week later grades came out, and this student received the only "A". On his paper he had written: "What chair?"
Joke credits go to Susan who is here for the day visiting her grandchildren. Love it! Had to share.

Outings with Wendy Part Four: Tiny Treks
Tiny Treks is Wendy's Tuesday morning activity with the kids. It's like a preschool, but its for 2 year olds, and the moms, dads or nannys accompany the children. And it takes place in a different outdoor location each week. Wendy has taken the kids to all kinds of wonderful places all over the peninsula. This first picture shows Wendy with the kids.
And here is Julia smelling the flowers:
The class is for two year olds, but they are very baby friendly and don't mind at all that Andrew accompanies them everywhere. He travels in the stroller while Julia hikes (sometimes a mile!) It's a challenge for Wendy sometimes, but she's so optimistic and positive she never seems to mind. In fact, Tuesdays are her favorite day of the week. Here's Andrew in his usual seat. It won't be long before he will be a tiny trekker in his own right! Here they are hiking along:
There are so many things to discover on Tiny Treks outings:
Here they are gathered around the picnic table sharing snack whil teacher Ellen or teacher Ann entertains with stories.

My name in print
In case you missed it in April, AdWeek Magazine published an article about the QuickBooks advertising campaign. I was interviewed and quoted, since advertising is among my responsibilities. It subsequently got picked up by CNN! Click here to see the CNN version (it's identical.) My dad discovered it when he was trying to find my blog on a different computer, and he googled "blog laurel holman" and it popped up as the 3rd entry!

Pure cat
Whitney is such a beautiful cat, pure black and shiny. With the kids around, we hardly ever take pictures of our kitties anymore, but she was posing so nicely the other day it inspired me to turn the camera in her direction.
