Trick or Treat

Happy Halloween!

Julia had so much fun trick or treating tonight. I took Andrew and Julia our together to visit a few of our neighbor friends while Jeff stayed home to answer doors.

Here is a close up of Andrew in his cute rooster suit.

And here's our cutie bear.

And here's what Andrew looked like when we got back from our neighborhood rounds.

After doing a few of the closest neighbors, I returned and Julia and Daddy went back out for a longer trip around the block. After they got back Julia was so excited. We spent an hour talking over and over about what they saw. The house that made the biggest impression was one with a basket of treats on the porch with a sign on the door that said "Please don't knock, our little boy is sick." Julia could not stop talking about that little boy. Jeff told her that he was probably asleep, getting some rest, and she kept talking about how she wanted him to wake up. It was really sweet and I think she was really worried about him. On a happier note, she also talked about the giant pumpkins she saw in one yard, and the boy dressed up as Elmo. And she is saving some candy for Benne, and some for Nana. : )

Halloween Party

Yesterday we attended a Halloween party at Stacey's house. Here is Julia in her bear costume, eating the much-anticipated Halloween cupcake:

And Andrew makes an adorable rooster:

And here is Julia's friend Sara, showing off her fairy princess costume:

Cousin Kira plays with Andrew and Julia

This weekend we visited Pasadena and saw Nana, Grumps, Aunt Kim, Uncle Brad, and Kira. It was so nice to see the cousins together. We couldn't resist posing them together for a few snapshots:

Pumpkin carving!

We carved our pumpkins a little early this year (these pictures are from 2 weeks ago) because we were going to be out of town the weekend before Halloween. Julia was quite interested in the process, although Mommy & Daddy did most of real carving. Jeff made a ghoulish face, and I made a funky scroll design on mine. Unfortunately, we didn't get pictures of the final product, and they rotted through before Halloween, so we didn't even get a chance to show them off. At least we got some snapshots of the work in progress.

Andrew's first solid food

We decided to start Andrew on rice cereal a little early (he is 5 months old) because he's just such a big, hungry guy. We're hoping it helps him sleep better at night (though no luck so far.) Here he is enjoying his first taste of food from a spoon.

Andrew at the zoo

I'm a little behind in my blogging... this picture was taken a couple of weeks ago when we took Andrew and Julia to the zoo. What a smile! Posted by Picasa

Halloween Decorations Take Two

Feeling that Jeff and Julia's decorations may have been a little on the scary side for a family of two young ones, we purchased a few more things to lighten the mood. The scary stuff is still up, it's just balanced by a little more of this kind of thing. Since we aren't having a halloween party, I have to show off our efforts on the blog which is the only place anybody is going to see it.

Andrew is 5 Months Old

I posted a picture of Andrew on his actual 5 month birthday a couple of days ago, but it wasn't a great picture. I took a few more this morning that I will consider his official 5 month portrait. He's growing up so quickly! Isn't he a cutie pie! Posted by Picasa

Back to Pastornio's for more pumpkin fun

This morning we decided to head back to Pastorinos to find some halloween decorations. The other day Jeff and Julia went out shopping for decorations, and came home with what we've now decided might be the scariest decorations ever. Instead of skeletons and flying demons and bloody rats, we've decided we need a little more in the genre of pumpkins, hay, scarecrows, etc. So, back to Half Moon Bay we went. I will post pictures later of the decorations once we put them up around the house (and maybe some pictures of the demons too for contrast!) Here are some pictures of our jaunt. The train ride was the big hit of the morning.

Friday Fun

Benne came to visit in the morning while I went to get my haircut. Here are Julia and Andrew on the couch smiling at Benne.
And then Grandpa came over and built towers with Julia.

Here's Andrew in his Bumpo chair on the kitchen counter, playing with his favorite toy.

And later Julia decided to do an art project...
